decision drivers unveiled in Garowe, Puntland State of SomaliaSamenvatting
This study, commissioned by the Ministry of Environment, Range and Climate Change (MoERCC) in Puntland, Somalia, investigates the key factors influencing the decision-making process of agropastoralists in Garowe district, Puntland State of Somalia, regarding sustainable fodder cultivation. The district is highly vulnerable to recurring droughts, which severely affect livestock productivity and contribute to economic instability and food insecurity. Agro-pastoralists in the region experience low livestock productivity, driven by recurring drought risks, insufficient participation in fodder cultivation, and limited technical knowledge. These factors exacerbate the effects of drought on livestock production, leading to costly imports of dry fodder and cereals, and increasing vulnerability to food insecurity.
