Samenvatting

This document outlines a facilitation manual that was used by the student facilitators of the Living Labs in the Caribbean Netherlands. It is written using the metaphorical approach that is applied in the magazine Europe Today: Special Issue on Living Labs (Ronner, et al., 2024), as the outcomes in the Invest4Excellence project (in which that magazine was developed) indicated that using metaphors supports reflection on Living Lab performance and dynamics. By using something familiar (cooking, travelling, DIY project), thinking about a complex concept like Living Labs becomes easier. In this facilitation manual, student facilitators are taken on a culinary journey past the essentials of what is a Living Lab, their role as facilitator, and power dynamics in multistakeholder processes like Living Labs. It culminates in a six-course “Living Lab Facilitator Menu” outlining the steps within the ABCD-methodology that the student facilitators followed during the Food Resilient Futures project, as well as several tools for facilitation to be used as inspiration for their work in the Living Labs.
